Last Wednesday a four-axle All Terrain crane travelling between the high altitude ski resort of Melchsee-Frutt and Stöckalp in the Canton of Obwalden, Switzerland went over the edge of the twisting alpine road and slid down the side of the mountain.
Apparently the driver strayed too near to the edge of the road as he handled a left hand bend, causing the edge of the road to give-way and causing the crane to go over the top and roll 20 metres down the hill, before coming to a rest. Thankfully he was unhurt.

The incident occurred last Wednesday afternoon on a road above Cheselen at a height of around 1,500 metres.
The local police and emergency services secured the crane to prevent further movement, checked for potential fluid leaks and said that it will have to be completely dismantled in order to be removed.
