Western Canadian crane service company Eagle West Wind Energy Inc. is hosting an impressive display of crane power at the CANWEA show this year in Toronto.
Eagle West Wind Energy Inc. has as of the flawless completion of the Bear Mountain Wind Farm now installed over 50% of all the wind turbines installed in Western Canada.
I had the pleasure of interviewing the business manager Mr. Murray Westerberg this afternoon.
Question:
Murray your company has amassed a notable portfolio of completed wind farm projects in Western Canada. What are the key services you offer that have brought you such an impressive track record?
Answer:
Our business focuses on providing four primary services to wind farm development companies:
A) Transportation of all inbound wind farm components;
B) Hoisting and crane services for the entire site;
C) Installation services for every component on the wind farm site inclusive of all trades, safety & project management;
D) Maintenance services to effectively support the wind farm after construction is complete and the farm enters service.
I would however like to point out that while these are technical services I think its actually our corporate culture built on “Total Customer Satisfaction” while providing “Total Lifting Solutions” that defines the real value we bring to our customers.
Question:
Your final statement to my first question is a rather bold and provocative , please expand?
Answer:
No problem. It’s like like this, the hoisting technology and technical services we provide are what people focus on, they need positive end result on their projects and so need companies like us to provide these services and solutions. We however focus on more than just providing this technical solution, we also address the customers underlying needs and address these head on, we have build a “culture of caring and concern” and this guides what we do and how we do it.
As such as we have an unusual employee selection and development program the results of which speak for themselves with many testimonials from leading project builders and one of the industries highest safety and on time records.
Question:
What is your best piece of crane technology as applied to wind farms and why?
Answer:
Itwould have to be our Liebherr LR 1400/2w outfitted with a narrow track road kit. This crane allows us to move our 440 ton crawler crane on narrow wind farm roads without the need to disassemble the crane for transport on the wind farm site, we can carry live loads and move on standard road slopes with ease. Our customers save huge on road building costs and the time in motions saving with this crane unit are very impressive.
Question:
What is your best service specialty?
Answer:
It would have to be our multiple certified technical team members. We have a wide selection of fully certified trades staff but have added value to them and our projects be also having them certified for high angle work and many of them are also certified in high angle first aid and rescue.
Question: How do these “best of” features you have outlined combine in the real world?
Answer:
When we combine the diversity of our crane fleet with the range of highly qualified technical staff we end up with the ability to provide a complete transportation, hoisting and installation service package to all customers. This means we can mix and match services as needed by our customers and can bid in a variety ways including fixed rates per turbine.
Question:
