In Parañaque City, Philippines, four Potain tower cranes are building the $200m Belle Grand Manila Bay resort, a large hotel and casino within the four-casino complex, “Entertainment City”.
The project’s principle contractor, Megawide Construction, bought the two Potain MC 205 B cranes for work on the resort.
Potain’s MC 205 B is a 10t capacity tower crane, available with a 60m jib, which can lift 2.4t at its jib end.
The cranes onsite are configured with jib lengths between 50m and 70m and set at heights of up to 60m to enable lifts of 5t loads of construction materials.
Megawide has an ongoing relationship with Potain and already makes use of Manitowoc Crane Care support at Manitowoc’s office in Makati City, Phillipines, for its own 12t Potain MC 265, plus an older Potain FO/23B, which are also being used for the resort project.
President of Megawide Construction, Engr. Edgar Saavedra, commented on the advantages of locally-based crane support, “Potain cranes never let us down, and they come with Manitowoc Crane Care support that offers high-quality service, spare parts supply and technical training.”
“This major development will create a world-class, integrated entertainment resort. There is no room for error. The build must proceed with the highest attention to detail, and it must be completed on time,” Saavedra said.
Megawide began work on the Belle Grand Manila Bay in August 2010 will continue to work with the cranes onsite until mid-2012.
Spreading over 15 acres and standing 9 stories high, the two main buildings of the resort will house a 1,000 room hotel, a 12,000m2 casino, 450 apartments, swimming pools, shops, restaurants, theatres and a theme park.
