GGR Group has introduced a pair of unique multifunctional spider cranes, the Cormidi KB19-4 and KB22-4, to their expanding range of lifting solutions for hire and purchase. The KB series are the industry’s first machines that operate as an access platform, under-bridge platform and spider crane with optional searcher hook or winch.
Representing the next generation of spider crane engineering, the KB19-4 and KB22-4 are the first true spider lift-crane fusion machines. No other combined access platform and compact crane in the market can rival the multi-functionality, capacity, flexibility and minimal dimensions of these versatile spider cranes which are the only machines of their kind with an under-bridge reverse basket function.
The KB19-4 and KB22-4 cranes have three stage telescoping hydraulic booms with innovative knuckle sections and hydraulic jibs for accurate positioning and an unbeatable range of movement akin to a human arm. With a rated load of 995kg, the KB19-4 offers more lifting power, control and higher reach than standard spider crane fly jibs across its 11.3m working radius. It has an overall lifting height of 14.6 metres (16 metres with searcher hook), a 365° rotating turret and fast winch speed for quick hook return. The KB22-4 crane can reach even further to a 17 metre maximum working height (18.5 metres with searcher hook).
As a work access and under bridge platform, the KB series flexible boom system can easily lift an operator up, over, then underneath a bridge for repairs and maintenance, negating the need for traditional heavy duty under-bridge inspection units. As a working platform, the KB19-4 can lift up to 19.5 metres and the KB22-4 to a 22 metre height.
At just 890mm wide, these spider lifts can work in restricted access areas and have been used in a variety of lifting locations such as construction sites, shipping yards, highways, waterways, factories and in low point loading areas. Their twin-speed traction system means that they can move over rough, uneven terrain and slopes with a gradient of 20°.
The KB19-4 and KB22-4 have a number of safety features such as stabilization sensors, an over-lowering alarm, auto-levelling outriggers, diagnostic function and a radio remote for controlling all boom functions from outside of the man basket. These low emissions machines also have many environmental and cost benefits such as low fuel consumption, intelligent stand-by mode and thanks to their compact size they are easier and less expensive to store and transport.
The KB spider cranes can also be remotely located and any problems quickly managed thanks to the machines’ GPS and diagnostic function. This eases the hassle for the operator and ultimately saves time and money as it reduces the need for lengthy site visits to diagnose problems.
GGR Group, who are official distributors of UNIC mini spider cranes, are branching out into the powered access market with the introduction of these multipurpose aerial platforms to their fleet as official Cormidi distributors. GGR Group’s CEO Graeme Riley comments, “We’re excited to bring these innovative machines to the UK and break new ground for GGR by offering powered access equipment to our customers. I’m confident that the Cormidi KB19-4 and KB22-4 spider lifts will be popular additions to our range as they are flexible machines that will appeal to a number of niche markets.”
