German based crane rental company Knaack-Krane has taken delivery of two new 600 tonne Liebherr LR 1600/2 crawler cranes. The first unit arrived in March, while the second has now also been delivered. Both cranes have gone to work erecting wind turbines. Knaack ordered a typical wind power configuration for both units, with a 138 metre main boom and fixed lattice jib. The company says that it selected the Liebherr 600 tonners for their fast, easy set-up times and shipping configuration which helps keep the cost of transport down. However Knaack, which is located in Hamburg, has become an all Liebherr fleet, with 32 telescopic mobile cranes with capacities of between 30 and 500 tonnes as well as the crawlers. The average age of its fleet is just 2.5 years.
