LAKE WORTH, Texas – A construction crane toppled over onto an historic building in Lake Worth on Thursday, slicing into its roof like a knife into a cake.
Workers were building the Lake Worth Multipurpose Facility nearby when a gust of wind knocked the fully extended crane onto the house’s roof.
Engineers think it was the thick stone walls that saved the old home from complete destruction.
The historic house, which is one of the oldest in Lake Worth, was built in 1931 and recently moved to this location on Charbonneau Road to serve as a future museum.
No one was hurt in the accident, and crews on the scene thought the house could be repaired.
