The 20 tonne Franna crane, belonging to Glendenning-based crane rental company Borger Cranes, was travelling down the F3 freeway at 7.30am when its boom struck the bridge.
Both the driver and passenger were treated for lacerations at the scene but fortunately did not need to go to the hospital.
Vertikal Comment
One possible explanation could be that the crane may have been working on the bridge or construction work nearby and was moving the crane to another part of the site with the boom elevated. Whatever the reason, this is a clear case of operator error.
