The Florida Crane Safety Alliance, supported by OSHA Alliance and several Florida crane and construction trade associations including Florida Crane Owners Council (FCOC), Crane Tech, Associated Builders and Contractor’s (ABC), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), Construction Association of South Florida (CASF),and Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) will conduct a Crane Safety & Education Seminar. The event will be held Thurs., June 7, 2012, from 8:30 AM to 3 PM at the Sheraton Ft Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port Hotel in Dania Beach, Fla.
The one-day seminar will focus on promoting crane safety and educating crane owners and contractors on the implementation of OSHA’s Crane & Derrick Standard: Subpart cc. Crane and construction industry guest speakers include Terry Young, president, Construction Safety Experts, Raleigh, N.C., and James Headley, owner, Crane Institute of America, Orlando, Fla.
The seminar is ideal for small and large contractors, crane owners, estimators, safety managers and instructors, and crane and rigging supervisors.
Agenda topics include Jobsite Responsibilities per OSHA’s New Crane & Derrick Standard, Subpart CC and will discuss who is ultimately responsible for the following circumstances on the jobsite:
Ground conditions where the crane will operate?
Location and ground conditions where loads are staged?
Lift plans and rigging?
Final “go-or-no-go” for lifting loads into place?
Verification of qualification or certification for riggers, crane operator, signal person, assembly/disassembly director?
