Strong winds in Montreal over the weekend caused a large mobile crane jib and hook come into contact with the 27 storey building it was parked alongside in Montreal, Canada, breaking four large windows.
Wind speeds are said to have exceeded 70 kph, possibly with higher gusts channelled between the tall buildings.
The crane, owned by Mammoet had been parked with partially extended boom and luffing jib in place was retracted after the incident on the orders of the fire deparment. The street was also closed as a precaution while the crane was ‘made safe’.
We understand that the crane was undamaged in the incident and no one was hurt by the falling glass.
