Long traffic delays were created yesterday after a crane collided with a sign entering a bridge on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia.
The details of what happened are not completely clear however it would appear the crane – reportedly a 20 tonne Franna pick & carry crane – was travelling down the M2 highway when its slightly raised boom struck a billboard above the bridge bringing it down onto the road.
This is almost certainly a case of operator error – driving the crane with the boom partly elevated. The collision left debris across the road and caused substantial damage to the crane’s boom.
We understand that no one was injured in the incident.
