I am getting all sorts of SOS calls and emails asking advice for what to do in Q-4. My answer is simple – the same thing you should have been doing in Q-1, Q-2, and Q-3. Calendar years are broken into three-month quarters predominantly for the pleasure of people who run companies.

A CRACK in a crane at Victoria’s troubled desalination plant forced the evacuation of 120 workers yesterday. The workers were sent home at 2.30pm on full pay after the fault was detected in a crane in the pumping station area of the plant. Thiess Degremont spokeswoman Serena Middleton said the workers were evacuated for safety reasons.
The social revolution and your evolution.
The social revolution has changed the way you sell forever. Only problem is, most salespeople have no idea of that – YET! As business social media evolves and matures, all salespeople, executives, and entrepreneurs will expose themselves for who they are and who they aren’t WAY BEFORE a sales call or sales meeting of any kind takes place.
Crane manufacturers pulling out of Iran
Five international crane manufacturers have stopped doing business in Iran. The organisation United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) is running its Cranes Campaign where it publically calls on crane manufacturers to stop selling new equipment and services in the country. The five manufacturers who had stopped doing business in Iran at the time of writing on 1 September were Konecranes, Liebherr, Tadano, Terex and Unic
American Jobs Act includes US$ 95 billion for construction
US President Barack Obama’s US$ 450 billion American Jobs Act includes US$ 95 billion of construction investment. The proposal also calls on Congress to approve the setting-up of a National Infrastructure Bank with US$ 10 billion of capital.
The bill, which is designed to boost employment in the face of disappointing US economic growth targets construction workers, among other groups.
THINK! – About what have you learned from your father and mother. Their wisdom has been the foundation of your philosophy, your belief system, your personality, and your achievement. They influence and affect your attitude towards yourself and others. Parents (and siblings) also influence your social habits and philosophies. They shape your self-image and your self-esteem.
Sometimes you have to make a decision that hurts and helps.
I gave a discount. It’s not the first time I’ve ever done it, it probably won’t be the last time I ever do it. But I teach against it. And I preach against it. If your price is $1000, and you discount down to $900, $100 comes right out of profit. And in these times, profit is the only saving grace of business.
I owe my positive attitude to Napoleon Hill. During one year of daily, four-hour intensive sales and positive attitude training back in 1972, I was fortunate enough to expose myself to his success principles. Each day one of the eight guys on my team had to give a book report on a chapter from Think and Grow Rich. Since there were only 15 chapters in the book, we reviewed it in its entirety every three weeks.
“I want to think about it.” “I want to think it over.
You go through your ENTIRE one-hour, amazing sales presentation. You nailed it. The prospect seemed to be in agreement, even excited at times. He or she has all the logical and emotional reasons to buy, but at the end of your pitch says, “Sounds great. I need to think it over for a few days.”
I give more than 75 presentations a year at annual meetings and sales meetings. There are always other presenters. CEOs and VPs of everything from finance to marketing. Most of the speakers are (to be kind) less than compelling. Most of the speakers (to be unkind) are boring. People in the audience are doing emails and texting while their CEO is speaking. YIKES.
