Wind power still warm for crane and rigging market
The American Wind Association’s annual conference and exhibition May 23-26 in Dallas, TX. Wind Power 2010, which drew an estimated 20,000 attendees and 1,393 exhibitors to the Dallas Convention Center, had companies describing to ACT upcoming research and development for the market.
While the American Wind Energy Association reports that the US wind industry broke all previous records by installing nearly 10,000 megawatts of new generating capacity in 2009 – enough to serve more than 2.4 million homes – the companies that transport and erect wind turbine components report the year was lackluster, and the future is less than clear.
The wind energy market continues to grow as does the capacity of the turbines, particularly offshore.
