Tower Crane Deal

While New York is facing a massive clean-up in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, one problem looms above all others: the tower crane with a broken boom atop the 306-metre tall One57 building beside Central Park.

Earlier this month a new tower bolt suffered a catastrophic failure, the crane was working at the time and the initial report suggested that the failure was caused by fatigue, even though it was new.

Some 12,000 workers and 100 cranes have built the hotel, residential and shopping complex which will include over 1,000 luxury apartments.
